Just been making a list of stuff I need to do before I can get the car started. Hoping to get it running this weekend (sunday) but there's still a lot to do yet!

Before starting - In no particular order

Fit oil pressure and temp take offs – adaptor ordered
Gearbox oil
Engine oil
Sump plug washer
Alternator charging cable
Throttle cable – needs 6mm nipple on TB end
Throttle pedal stop
Proper bolts in clutch pedal
Temp fit air filter
Aux belt - ordered
Remove crank pulley – retaining adhesive on trigger wheel bolts. Refit with new bolt and torque
Mark TDC for timing check
Gap spark plugs – 0.8mm. Refit with copper slip on seats
Clips on all water and supercharger hoses
Secure loose cables and pipes
Fill with coolant – check for leaks
Fit plenum spacer and back plate
Fit prop spacer
Fit lambda sensor
Recalibrate dash
Fit fuel return from fuel rail to FPR and FPR to swirl pot
Fit MAP line to ECU and FPR
Plug unused map line for BOV
Drill plenum backplate for air temp sensor

Mount for FPR – mount to firewall?
Mount for supercharger oil tank – top of drivers footwell
Mount for header tank – mount to firewall
Support bracket on tray for ECU etc
Re-glue stiffening rib on back of dash

Fit supercharger oil tank, oil lines etc. Fill and prime with traction fluid

Fire up low pressure pump and check for leaks. If ok, pressureise with HP pump and check again.

After start jobs:
Check oil pressure
Check charging
Balance throttle bodies
Check VR sensor polarity
Check timing and trim as required.
Check rad fan switching temp (ECU)
Check for leaks
Fit plenum and intercooler to plenum pipes
Tune idle and ASE when hot

Other stuff:
Cut new bonnet to fit, vents, catches
Dismantle rear end
Fit new fuel pump – probably need a bracket!
Repaint all rear suspension
Fit LSD
Modify brake pipes for rear discs
Refit rear suspension
Fit brakes
Bleed brakes, front and rear
Torque prop bolts
Refit all internal panels. Top tunnel panel may require modifying for new gearstick position
Refit seats
Fit under bonnet panels – modify firewall for access to fuse box


Oh well, at least I have a list to work through now!

I love making lists when i have a lot to do, ticking them off reminds you that you are making progress, dont forget to keep your video camera handy

i hate making lists reminds me how much i have left to do... and that i'm probably going to miss this summer too...

hmm, an interesting idea! i think the main thing is, i've got all the major parts, its all the fiddly things i need other people to do. welding, wiring looms, etc. oh, and money too...
shall have to have a good think about that though!

I also want to start mine this sunday, just to test the new ecu / wirring.

Yeah its a long list, some jobs are much bigger than others. I have 2 evenings, friday afternoon and all day sat to get the pre start stuff done!

Fingers crossed....

You'll always find something to add to the list too....

i've only just started my build but i dont think my list is that long but then this is my first build and i dont think i know how much is involved

only small amount left......
have it done in couple of days lol.
i hate lists make ti look worse than it is lol

Could you not get the car back on the road first and strip the back end later? There are bound to be a number of niggles with the engine install for which the car has to come off the road after a short while (if only for a few days), so I'd combine that with a stripdown / refresh of the rear end.

Yes I could do, depending on how it goes this weekend I could leave the back end as it is.

I need to strip it all down to change the fuel pump as I need a higher capacity one anyway so its got to be done before the engine is run flat out

In the short term I could run with the std one.

Tonight I have sorted the accelerator cable, though its a bit tight so needs some adjustment somewhere along the line. I think the problem is at the pedal end.

Also clipped all of the coolant hoses. Just need to tie them down to the chassis now to stop them chaffing.

Also made a support bracket for the supercharger oil tank, which turned out well.
