Welding Gas Suppliers - Costs
rayward - 16/4/10 at 08:18 AM

just looking at getting a TIG machine, but can't believe how much the rental cost on the gas bottles is !

is there any cheaper way to do it?, or is it just a case of stumping up the cash ?

cheers
Ray

If you shop around you can find suppliers who do not charge a rental, but a deposit on bottles plus gas cost. I used ARC welding products in Manchester.Cost me £120 all in for large 14 litre argon bottle. Gas cost £31. Hope this helps.

If I work out the weekly cost of my Energas cylinder it's just over £1 a week which is not bad compared to TV license or road tax.

I use adam gas. I paid £94.04, which £40 of that was a deposit, but now it looks like £50, I wonder if i returned mine how much i would get back!!!!

It was £54.04 for a refill, but unsure what the price is now, as its been 18 months since i had it.

I think it depends on where you live to what is the best deal, but mine was delivered via a carrier

I got my gas from http://www.ibweld.com/ no annual rental fee, just a one off deposit. Couldn't say if they'll deliver as I collected mine
