The wife was at work and the sun was out so Ive started on my transporter for the locost. Thought I would do a bit of a blog.

I need a trailer to get it painted and maped. ect.

Found this on the side of the road a few weeks back. Cost £40 Its an Alko 21ft single axle braked chassis 1200kg swl. Should be plenty for a locost.




I then dumped it down my mums
I was told Friday I had to move it as they have workmen in from Tuesday

Me and my lad stripped the base of. That was heavy. Two layers of ply and a blue foam core with big dollops of fiberglass to stiffen it up.




Bought a 6 ft trailer board. cost £29.95
I got it home and found it wouldnd even fit in front of the hose at 21ft
So I stripped it down and carried it through to the back garden.

I then set about it with the plasma cuter and loped 6ft out of it.
Welded it back together.









I then bolted it back together
I need to shorten the braking rod and brace where ive shortened it.




I now need to buy some steel and get it made up soonish as the wife has already started

I have found some ramp decking.




Thats £25 for a 6ft x 1ft length. So thats 6 of them or a couple of sheets of marine ply. And about 30 meters of 2" x 1" box and some angle iron. I may see what I can scrounge in uncle ron style first

When will I learn to cover my arms when using the plasma and welder

looking good, would it be worth not using ply to keep the weight down on it? Just have it open below the runners?

You weld some bolts on so you can alter the width for wider or smaller cars?

I cant make my mind up. If I board it out then I can use it for other things aswell.

On the subject of ramps mine are ply. I assumed they were marine but after the winter outdoors are soggy and swollen so I'll be looking for some metal mesh of some sort.
Neighbour's trailer has had all the ply disintegrate after a few years neglect so I reckon metal of some sort (ali. or mesh) has to be a better bet.
