Hi all, I really need to weld a mounting ring to the bottom of my ally tank friday night or over the weekend if possible. I am south beds, would obviously pay for your time - can anyone help? Rescued attachment IMG00062-20100527-2311.jpg

I know 907 does fantastic work, almost 100 miles from here though

Sorry, I can't weld.

I bolted mine together using a 1inch thick bracket like yours, tapped on the inside with an O ring.

Bit fiddly to tighten up the bolts, but I "modified" a spanner. My tank had already seen loads of fuel and would have been difficult to remove, and I can't weld.

Actually, this was a pointless reply. Get it welded.

Don't know if he is still there but try a guy in Welwyn Garden City. 19 little ridge, WGC, AL7 2BH 01707 323483. I used him a few years ago to ali weld uip some intercooler pipes and his work was second to none.

If I was stuck...

I'd match drill the six holes in the tank,
cut the flange in half,
screw bolts into the flange up to the bolt head,
and install it from the inside so the bolts poke through to form studs.
Wrapping ptfe tape round the studs will stop it dropping back into the tank.

If I didn't have a welder that is.

Thanks for all the replies Frank/dave you have U2U...

907 I had considered making a bolt up arrangement, but worried about being able to seal the studs...

Sounds a bit suspect to me. He already has a biatch too, and he only went over to borrow a spanner.....

Ever seen Pulp Fiction?
