hi everyone just signed up thought i would say hi and do a build dairy on my SR2 as you can probably work out from my user name i work for road runner
racing so decided i would build myself a SR2
ill be using 1600 mx5 running gear with a full built engine and a rather large turbo previously i have had a big power evo and a 300whp mx5 so getting
good power from the engine shouldnt be a problem
not had alot of time on it so far the parts are piling up but with only the odd 10mins between building customers chassis and getting kits ready i
have only had chance to get the master cylinders and brake lines on
gone for remote resevoirs as i already had them lying around from another project
set to mocking up were i want the turbo to go so i can build the manifold
test fitted to one of out full built cars to check clearence
you the one with the spikey hair

welcome,
are you planning to IVA it one day?
i shall be doing at some point but for the time being i just want it as a out and out track car
lol, you were showing me how quick you could put the small tubes together quickly, NOT , on the evening you were setting up, was talking to Kev and
Chris
Joe
looking good
Although...
That bracket for the brake fluid etc it’s going to flex and vibrate the way its mounted and then fatigue at the rivets, then fall off. You’ll need a
much stronger mounting method and I’d make it from steel. I’ve had driving lamps fatigue 2 inch perfectly round holes in 3mm aluminium sheet purely
from vibration.
bloody puzzles lol by the end of the weekend i could manage it with my eyes shut

Looking forward to seeing this build. If i were to build another car i would go the full Mazda Mx5 Route. Out of interest, why did you choose the 1.6 over the 1.8?
Very nice!
If I had to start a kit , this would be the same as yours : This chassis is just amazing!

Hi
Good looking Turbo, What BHP will you get from that and what pistons and rods have you put in.
Can a Turbo be put on a standard engine and what BHP would I get without damaging the engine ?

What does the chassis weigh Lee?
little update
got the manifold done
ecu mounted and started making the engine loom
pistons and rods arrived
should get the block across to be machined early next week and then set to building it up
And, err, what does the chassis weigh Lee?
To be fair, Chris has only just this week told me what his weighs, so I could pass it on to Tim and I forgot it, before I'd even put the phone
down!!!
I suppose I could just ask him again!
Ill weigh it when i get into work today mine will be slightly less as i dont have door bars
weighed it today 93kg
well thought i best do a update
pedal box built up
rebuilt mx5 diff with cusco lsd
refurb'd rear drive train all powder coated new bearings polly bushes (thanks chris)
walbro 355 external pump
holes cut in tub for upper and lower suspension arms
arches fitted
looks nice and wide
tub bonded on suspension fitted and starting to look like a car
I do like that style
