Jon Ison - 22/6/10 at 08:32 PM

this as to be Gordon's fault........

RichardK - 22/6/10 at 08:33 PM

I'd be happy to take you out but not that close HG5

Mines a pinto 1.6 so is probably the slowest thing around, apparently...

Cheers

Rich

bike engines are frantic and fast, car engines are more refined they dont scream like a room full of kids will generally be a bit slower in the acceleration stake. But you can chat with your passenger at 70mph. I run a zetec powered one 1.8 the brother in law has a 2 litre zetec pushing 200bhp out and that is very quick its on the sequential box of a bike engine that has the edge over his

dlatch - 22/6/10 at 11:56 PM

austin what exactly is the performance diff between the 200bhp zetec and say a blade or zx10 ?

brookie - 23/6/10 at 05:34 PM

any one help me please

Ninehigh - 23/6/10 at 06:21 PM

Iirc they'll both have about the same bhp rating, but the car engine will have more torque and be heavier.

I think that's the crux of the argument with performance

brookie - 23/6/10 at 06:48 PM

that zx10 i went to have a look had about 150 bhp i think i could be wrong

brookie - 23/6/10 at 06:50 PM

right the next question is if i got one with the bike engine how much would it cost to put the car engine in it at a later date if need be

FFTS - 24/6/10 at 09:24 AM

If I'm not mistaken the BEC chassis are designed different to take the lighter engines in some manufacturers kits.

Could be wrong.

I think it would be cheaper jst to sell the BEC and buy the CEC if you wanted to change.

boggle - 24/6/10 at 11:03 AM

or buy one of each?

wilkingj - 24/6/10 at 12:34 PM

Check with some insurance companies for quotes, before you decide which way to jump.
Especially if you are a youngster.
It may prove to be the deciding factor, espewcially where a BEC is involved!
They are getting wise to the BEC performance. No longer is it a 1 litre cheap insurance. Its probably as much or more than my V8 Luego.
Again your age will make a big difference.

im 38 and getting it on a parts only insurance
