Picked up a new (to me) Procomp LA Gold yesterday!
A one-owner 2002 car that's been road-registered, but used predominantly for sprinting.
Needs a bit of cosmetic TLC, road tyres, handbrake and MOT but it came at a bargain price, so can't complain!
The timing was a bit bizarre to say the least... I'd just dropped Matt (Procomp) a U2U asking about having an LA Gold built for me with a
red-top. Nothing fancy - the only requirements was that it should go, stop and turn well! Within a couple of hours of said U2U being sent, this
appeared in the classifieds!

And already we have a Q... what's a safe RPM-Limit for these engines?
look forward to seeing it for sale for half what you paid
if your going to be using that on the road it may be worth dropping the diff to a 3.92?

Standard rods with ARP bolts are good for approx 8000rpm as long as you're not spending all day on the limiter....I know that as i've just been doing similar research!!

Well done. Ill get all the info asked for over to you on Monday once i can get into the workshop properly and Ivan's back from Silvertone.
Don't worry about the axle when done properly they are good for 250Hp and 180FtLb. And there's the later rear geometry that can be installed
easily to bring the grip levels up to the same spec as the current cars.

I think I'll set a self-imposed 8k limit!
if I was grasstracking a std bottom end on ARPS where the risk was 300 quid for an engine Id be running 8k limiter.
For a road car, where swapping the engine is work, the spec would result in a bit spend following a bottom end death and the extra few revs isnt
actually worth anything Id limit to 7250 and be done with it.
Cheers Alilstair... I've been reading a bit more on them and was coming to the conclusion that 7.5k was probably as far as I want to go.
Don't forget, depending on the type of limiter you have, it may only save you with the engine under load. Mine was an expensive engine with the limiter set at 7800 but one missed gear change was all it took (tell-tale showing about 9200!!)
It's just one of those things;
how confident are you in vaux quality control on rods?
How confident are you on the life they have had thus far?
How much risk are you prepared to take?
You then either minimise cost (standard engine internals and a spare on the shelf) or minimise probability (not revving so hard)
IMHO on your spec going beyond 7500 is probably pointless anyway.
