Has anyone here tried this game? Apparently it has a Seven available as one of the cars... Maybe more. Just looking at the screenshots right now.

See here...

Not that I'm into games playing - but THAT I may look into - if I get a PC fast enough...

sgraber - 10/6/04 at 10:15 PM

Yeah, doesn't This look like fun?

Viper - 11/6/04 at 12:34 AM

Has anyone played this game?

sgraber - 11/6/04 at 01:01 AM

I've been playing it. tsk tsk, don't tell boss.

It's Alpha so there are some rough points to the interface, but the vehicle dynamics are simply the best I have ever seen and the graphics are fantastic. There is a feature where you can remove the body off the car and graphically view the force vectors acting upon the wheels while you are driving. Waaay cool. The demo only has a few cars and one track, but the unlock code is pretty inexpensive since it is still under development.

Sorry but someone has to say it - GEEK!

Browser - 11/6/04 at 10:01 AM

Yup, got it, unlocked it, played it. If you like gaames where you have to think a bit this is for you as the cars handle terribly 'out of the box' but tweaking will give you a better set-up.
The company marketing it are working out the inconsistencies i.e. if you played it with a keyboard rather than a computer steering wheel you could engage braking and steering assists which prevented the brakes from locking (ever) and powerslid the car for you. This meant they could run ludicrous set-ups which would never work with a wheel but were fast. This has now been removed and the keyboard players are whingeing (buy a bloody wheel then!) but it is simply the best of it's kind. It is listed as a driving simulator, NOT a driving game, so don't expect Colin McRae Rally-esque handling as it is trying to be as near to the real thing as poss.
IF you want to have fun and learn how to set up a chassis this is for you. THere is a development version due out soon with more cars/tracks/setup parameters etc.

P.S. both the seven replicas are sods to drive on standard setups and I haven't been able to develop a decent one yet due to lack of time

Not really into games but my racing simulator is parked outside

Downloaded the game, and it looks the nuts. I've also just downloaded an excellent manual for it too, any body need the link, here it is:

http://www.rscnet.org/content/files.../lfs_manual.zip

What about getting a few of us locosters together and starting our own on-line race-club? Strickly for those who have finished their build and can spare the time in the evening of course

ned - 11/6/04 at 11:26 AM

what about those at work with time to burn (in their lunch hour, of course )

Ned.

Jasper - 11/6/04 at 11:44 AM

Ok Ned - you're allowed!!

mackie - 11/6/04 at 03:18 PM

That looks pretty neat, I think I'll try it tonight.
I'm current playing Toca Race Driver 2 which damn good also (although the non-advanced mode handling is a little bit comical)

Peteff - 11/6/04 at 03:43 PM

I've tried playing it with the mouse and I keep hitting the walls. It's hard to follow where you are on the track and steer and brake at the same time but I managed to do a drive through the pits in practise.

mackie - 11/6/04 at 03:45 PM

I have a force feedback steering wheel so hopefully it should be quite playable

Jasper - 11/6/04 at 03:48 PM

I'm gonna try it tonight with a gamepad see if it works of with that, if not I'll have to get me a steering wheel - always thought they looked really 'sad' though

Mind you, probably no sadder than sitting in a part build locost making brumming noises!!

mackie - 11/6/04 at 04:07 PM

Heh, well I was a bigtime Gran Turismo 3 nut and got myself the official gt3 wheel. It's very good
The new version has full 900 degrees of rotation too

Jasper - 11/6/04 at 04:18 PM

Well, I've just been up the road and got me a Force Feedback wheel and pedals, if you're gonna do it, you might as well do it properly!!!

Can't wait to get home now - take the locost out for a spin with the wife (kids away), then back home for a bit of PC gaming action, can't get better than that

macspeedy - 11/6/04 at 04:48 PM

anyone got a link to were i can download it from?

In the downloads section.

greggors84 - 12/6/04 at 01:25 AM

Started playing this a couple of days ago, was going to put a link on here but forgot! Its weird you mention it now steve as i saw it a while ago, but never had broadband so didnt bother downloading it. My mate told me about it the other day so i thought i would download it.
Problem is you there are only 3 cars until you unlock it, which cost £12. Cant be arsed to pay for it at the moment, as it means i will spend all my time playing and doing no work.
There is a FWD car called the GTi, looks like a Seat Ibiza, lots of understeer, then you have the GT, the RWD which has loads of oversteer! You can unlock a turbo version, which looks fun. You need to earn 200 credits by winning races against other people of the computer (you win 3 points each time u win!!)
Is very realistic, if a bit too much! The rear wheel drive cars are hard to pull away in without ending up facing the other way.
Been playing it tonight with a couple of mates, its a good laugh when there is a few of you. If anyone fancies a race sometime we should arrange it, have a locost race meet!

Jasper - 12/6/04 at 07:59 AM

Had a go with the new steering wheel last night and it is really excellent, very realistic. The RWD car is truely hard to drive, as greg says. I definitely up for a locost race series!!

Haven't sussed out playing on line yet, need lots more practic b4 I embarrass myself.

Gonna sit a go throgh the PDF manual later.

I know, I know! What a crack-up. Mash the throttle and apply opposite lock! I feel like a drifter in one of those 240sx's.

greggors84 - 13/6/04 at 03:49 PM

If anyone fancies a game now, me and a few mates are playing in the game called "DTM Racing"

mackie - 14/6/04 at 07:48 AM

http://www.racer.nl/
Similar idea of creating a no frills driving simulation. Loads of downloadable cars (some very very good!) and a good selection of tracks too. It's all free aswell.

Jasper - 14/6/04 at 10:13 AM

I haven't ventured out to race on-line yet, trying to hone my skills a little first! When racing on-line, do you all automatically get the same car? Or do you have to achieve a certain level on your own machine and then enter your own car??

greggors84 - 14/6/04 at 01:27 PM

You can just change car during the game, just like single player. Most people have the same car to keep it fair, u get the odd person using the turbo and just burning it off, then spinning on every corner, so they usually end up losing anyway.
When you look at the list on online games it says which car the game is meant for.

macspeedy - 14/6/04 at 01:53 PM

mackie what are the controls for that game as there is no setup.. or is there?

macspeedy - 14/6/04 at 01:57 PM

doh.. found it!

Jasper - 14/6/04 at 03:21 PM

I'll have a go at that when my new wheel arrives, I took the Saitek one back as it wasn't much cop, got a nice Momo one arriving in a couple of days!!

Let us know when you're next racing.

Viper - 14/6/04 at 05:57 PM

Anyone tried the GTR demo? if the game is anything like the demo it is gonna be awsome and then some.

Mark Allanson - 14/6/04 at 06:06 PM

Tim, stop playing on the computer and get that car finished, new vital parts on the way!

Viper - 14/6/04 at 07:52 PM

spose i will have to get on and finish the brakes then...

Cheers Mark
