Helmet visor rain advice.
bitsilly - 25/10/10 at 05:55 PM

For the second time at a trackday in the rain I had to come in cos I couldn't see a b****y thing.
To make matters worse I wear glasses!
I am planning on getting a new visor, but can anyone tell me do those stick on things (called Fog off I think) work on the inside?
And does Rainx, or something else work on the outside?

Cheers
Ed

Rainx works well on the outside and I use a small dab of neat washing up liquid spread on the inside then polished off stops any fogging.

Works for me.

pinlock inserts stop the flogging on the inside

Second the washing up but do make sure it's fairy or the like as cheapo ones contain a lot of salt which will scratch your visor to bits

As said, rainex or equivalent on the outside and nip down to your local m/bike shop for some Bob Heath's visor spray to stop it fogging on the inside.

Pinlocks are magic things, completely stop any fogging (as long as you give them a wash occaisionaly).

You can also get tinted ones for the few sunny days we get!

I use the bob heath spary on the inside and have never had any fog since, i need to sort the outside though as i got stuck in raix and couldnt see a thing, ive got some rainx in the garage so will give that a go.

As already posted Rain X is the stuff for the outside to stop droplets sitting on the visor. The Locost way round this one is to go faster

The ultimate cure for fogging is the Fog City, a sort of double glazing for visors. When I was passengering F1 sidecars the physical effort involved made fogging a real problem. Not being able to see your handholds at 275kph is a wee bit scary. The Fog City completely stops any fogging at all. The old Fairy Liquid wiped on the inside of the visor will reduce fogging but not completely. If looked after a Fog City will last a long while. A whole seasons racing for me. Dear but worth it.
