Says still registered as Sierra / P100 as this was the donor vehicle. Surely it would be registered under the name of the kit?
It is badged P100 on the back, so it must be legal........

So that would make mine a modified Escort if I put the 'Escort' badge on and no need for IVA. Sorted!

As its a 1989 build it would have been prior to SVA/IVA, and in those days you registered it as the donor, and retained the same number plates. I
built a dutton in 1984, and it was registered as a Ford Dutton, and retained the number plate from the escort that I stripped. Cheers Ray

There was a period of grace to register the "kit car" correctly, and it's still possible to register it correctly......if you have provable history, and can get the car club for the marque to also confirm it's existence. Then DVLA might allow it to be registered with out IVA etc. or not......it seems to be variable at the moment. Also the DVLA are beginning to interpret the "new" rules on engine changes and chassis mods and are beginning to refuse reissue of V5's with out history for the engine to prove it's bonafides, or an engineers report or sometimes IVA's. (they claim to prevent ringing) Some folks in the Classics world are very worried about stock piled old engines being useless for rebuilds. So if you plan to do anything do it quick because we are rapidly going the route of European harmonisation, and if it goes the whole hog we may end up like Belgium where it illegal to use any car that does not have a cat on it. (where even classic cars can only be used on government approved routes to approved venues.)
