Although I have been told that superchargin bike engines is better on hillclimbs than than turbo'in coz obviously there is no lag which is better for the short runs that hillclimbs are (Mark Budgetts new Gould hill climber is gonna be a supercharged Busa powerplant)

But turbo'in is always a laff!

Just a few points to consider:

1) It is a draw through system so you will not be able to run an intercooler. For this reason and others, draw through systems are not as effecient or as responsive as a blow through set up. You will have to run more boost on a draw through to get the same results on a blow through. Alright if you have a drag race lump that gets rebuilt every other run but.....

2) The turbo in the picture is an AirResearch (old Garrett) model. Unless this turbo has been converted to run draw through the seals will degrade and leak oil. With draw through you are bringing the fuel through the turbo with the charge and most seals are not designed to come in contact with fuel.

3) Who has this kit been built by? Nothing wrong with DIY turbo but a DIYer might not realise the importance of matching the turbo to the engine.
I would ask for the spec of the turbo?
It looks a little on the large side to me. Too large a turbine housing on a bike and you will never wind the thing up enough to make any good power.

4) Cracked exhaust housing? If it has an integral waste gate the crack on a Garratt, it will usually be between the waste gate port and tubine exit port. Depending on the size of the crack, it would prob run ok. I have got away with hairline cracks that have run fine for years. But if you can be bothered changing the turbine housing it shouldn't cost too much.

At the end of the day, turbo bike engines are great and not that hard to build (despite what some companies will tell you). If i was putting a bike engine in my car it would certainly be forced induction!

Hillclimbing ? Harewood Hillclimb, the only event where you start off going downhill !! Great track though.

Olivers Mount, more mountain than hill. Very steep second section.

I presume you're doing the Southern events from your sig.

Did quite a bit up here before interest waned, due only to most of track friends giving up also. Just couldn't get on with the 'new' crowd.

Gurston Down starts off going down hill (build up loads of speed) followed on by an almost hairpin bend just as it starts going uphill again, thats what you call an 'accident blackspot'.

The speed championship I was in arranged 'swap' tracks. We were due for an event at Gurston Down but I didn't enter that round, so missed it. Same for Loton Park.

Often we were amalgamated at tracks with 4 other series at same time. Midland champs, Auto Express etc.

Lotus at Hethel was one in particular that I enjoyed. Lotus brought out it's own cars to take part.
340r in total see through polycarb, a la model cars, excellent build and I just spent time drooling over it.

I liked the mixed events, Bentley and Austin 7 clubs were great guys.
Even if 7s tended to put oil film on track!

Ferrari owners club a bit hoo hah.

Ginettas, a bit too competitive!!

Westfields, stuck up their own ar**s.

Caterhams, strangely I got on with them and they were very friendly. Not at all like I expected.

I was thinking of entering the Gurston Championship when I have finished as it only goes on on sundays (no practice on saturdays which is good as I will have school then). The other one near me is Prescott hillclimb.

If you can, get to Loton to compete. Considered by some (includin me) as one of the best climbs. Lots of adverse camber and an awesome straight (with a bend in the middle!), with a nice blindspot at the top of the straight which just happens to be where you're braking from your highest speed
