Speedo Problem
Lightybob - 10/9/11 at 04:53 PM

The speedo on my Locost 7 is jumping, I have tried 2 cables [both where used cables] and fitted a 90 degree take off on the

gear box. The flickering does seem to be improving the more that I drive the car, but the problem was noticed on my recent

IVA test and needs sorting before my retest on the 27th. The Speedo is new, but at least 10 years old, it's a Caterham head.

Do you think I should replace it? I am also waiting for a new cable to be delivered, Has anybody else had this issue? and

know how to solve it.

Thanks David.

Take the cable off remove the inner wipe all the grease off and wipe it over with wd40, then flush through the outer cable with wd40.

Run some light oil through the outer cable and hang it up to drain overnight.

Just before putting the inner cable ensure it is 100% free of any grit and lube with CV joint grease wiping off any excess grease before inserting back in the outer.
Make 100% sure no excess lubricant reaches the the speedometer end.
