Crikey, that was nasty. That roll cage did seem to stand up well, I'm glad to see the driver seemed safe & sound. It's the first time I've seen a video of a seven rolled.

Caterham full cages do work extremely well. This guy "only" broke an arm.
I'm sure that's the same bit where Graham Hickman very nearly lost his life in the Jordan F1 car.

It was Mr Hickman Zilspeed, I was trying to remember the guys name after I saw that video and thought the same as you, IIRC it was an old F1 car
modified for hillclimbing, i think it may have been the cars first season as well as they were adapting it for the narrow tracks that our hills have.
Also a post by the driver of the above video reports it may well be the last run he does.

I have been sideways at that point myself, but fortunately the outcome was just a simple spin into the outside banking, does made you wonder why the
owners have not modified the inside bank to reduce the ' launch' situation.

Wow. Glad I'm adding a hoop and bracing now. It also makes me glad of the hardwood layout. Lots of room to run off (which I have done a few times).

a lot of people are going for arm-restraints as well now, and I intend to. They should be have enough to get free travel for the steering wheel, gear
stick, etc, but will keep your arm in the open cockpit in case it all goes a bit blue-danube-waltz.

I find it odd that open-cockpit car drivers have to have arm restraints for drag racing, but not other forms of motorsport. I hate the things but when you see arms flailing around after/during a crash, they make sense!
Cant see the video at work, but the photos alone look very 'impressive' as said, vary glad to hear he survived it with seemly little side
effects.

Almost a week old that story, and here was me saying I get my news from the internet because it was instant !!!.
Shelsley walsh is always good to go and see, I've got a picture of the air ambulance landing there when someone had an accident, i think it was the 2009 one.
Yes, it was a big one, almost identical to another 7 two years ago.
Glad Richard is OK, he's a really nice chap, his son I believe got the class record in the previous run as a shared drive.
