Good engine stand for pinto rebuild?
Apollo1600 - 11/10/12 at 05:28 PM

Hi there,
Can anyone reccomend me a good stand to rebuild a pinto on? Ideally one that doesnt cost an arm and a leg!
Cheers

the £50 ones from machine mart get the job done, have a pinto sitting on one now, and an mx5 engine on another. Will just about cope with a duratorq dieseasel.
Were you still interested in pistons?

i have a duratec on my £40 machine mart stand with ease!

The T shaped one I find a little unstable but the U shaped one is difficult to get my crane over due to the legs on both touching before the engine is near enough

Thanks for the advice, wheres the best place to mount them to, the bellhousing bolt holes?
Will i need a few bits of metal to make it fit the stand?
Cheers

get one that comes with adjustable arms and mount to the bell housing bolts! just a tip, you'll need some looooooooooooooong bolts!

Machine Mart for me too... £40, and held my Rover V8 well enough.
Agreed... Some long bolts are a big help!

Get a length of threaded rod and cut to suit.

Put your location in your profile, someone near to you may have one you can borrow? Mine gets very little use for example

Have a machine mart one and its been great for everthing i've had dangling off it

Managed to get it off our local freecycle
