Building outdoors????????
Findlay234 - 22/9/04 at 11:46 AM

Just a call to all you who have been building your cars outdoors. Ive been builing mine in my garage at home but intend on taking the car up to uni when i go in about a weeks time. Is it wise to do this?? I could leave the car here while i go but i would miss out on a few months build and i seem to have a alot of spare time at uni ( even tho i am doing mechanical engineering..... id hate to see the amount of free time people get on 'other' courses).

Any chance of you guys giving me your pros and cons and possible recomendations......

cheers
fin

you mech eng'ers make me sick, complaining about your free time - try automotive engineering!

if they are nice, you can leave your car in the workshop at uni...

I dont have an answer, but I lose my build space in less than a month, and will be working outside until I'm done.

Never ideal - my car has been outside for 8 weeks (skip in my drive for building work) and you can see it's suffered from the damp - will need a good bit of TLC to get it back to original condition.

I did the first half of the build outside, its fine on nice summer days, but can be really depressing when the weather is not so good. I had a period of nearly 3 months when I could do nothing. Corrosion is the next thing - it can be really bad as the car is left under taups, the moisture gets in and anything not heavily painted or waxed with rust. I used to bail the car out every saturday morning, get rid of mouse nests, earwigs........

If you can keep the car indoors, do it!

Mr Allanson,
It has been brought to our attention that you have been spreading the scurrilous rumour that there is inclement weather in Cornwall. Would you please refrain from doing so in future as the jobs of dozens could well be in your hands.
D.Penberthy,
Plymouth and Greater Cornwall County Council.

Denzil,

Let me assure you that it only rains in Cornwall between 1st Nov and 43rd Feb - the rest of the year is perfect clear blue skys, even at night!

This has only been the case since the latest bylaw imposed by the Plymouth and Greater Cornwall County Counci last year - Boscastle veto'd the idea and consequently all uncooperative meterological disturbances were concentrated there recently. The parish council have now learnt the error of their ways and now have asked that the focus of unpleasantness is now concentrated on Wolverhampton, as their holiday trade is negligible.

Now all dissident thought has now been elliminated , we look forward to a pleasant and profitable season next year
