Been out today in the kit and through lots of muck up during an autosolo. Car ended up being a mess covered in crap, mixture of grit, mud and water.

Seat belts are soaked and now turned from red to grey/yuck colour.
I need to get them clean so thinking of unbolting them and washing them by hand in a bowl in some basic washing powder.
I can dry them in an airing cupboard and lightly oil the catches after.


Any better ideas? As it stands they would be UN-usable without being cleaned.

Soap and a soft brush, Not much more you can do with them.

I used fairy liquid and a nail brush, worked a treat! Just needed to wash off afterwards

+1 for washing machine, just go out for an hour thats all, does make a racket, no damage to machine either.

I put mine in dishwasher after a tin of paint was spilt on them, they look brand new with a couple of marks on one of them.

...not advisable when wife is about, she tends to smile upside down.

I put them through the washing machine first in a pillow case then again without in an attempt to get a few more marks out.

They are clean, with a few probably older oil/paint marks but certainly a lot better and one can use them once again without fear.

Few ding's in the washing machine tub but it still works OK.
