Welding two bar to CRV
Opirun - 5/4/13 at 11:02 AM

Hi all,

I am interested in finding a "locost" method of attaching a two bar to my CRV, I have found specific brand new tow bar that can be bolted on for about £80 to £100, but wondering if I can weld a cheaper second hand tow bar on to save some cash.
I can not seem to find a scrap towbar specific to my vehicle.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Unless you are 110% sure that the weld will be super strong, I would think that bolting is the best option, there is a lot of force on a towbar.

Just my humble opinion of course

Insurance implications as well, better to spend the money.

Ok, thanks for the advice all.

This kind of sums it up.

LINKY

I hate it when 'the man' tells us we can't do stuff (we can fit them but can't make them).

Trouble is, if it breaks away (full up with rusty anvils) and sails towards that minibus carrying one-legged orphans, you can be sure that your insurance company will be asking for your type approval number when you ring the claim line.
