I am looking to get some tracks for the car to actually sit on when on the trailer. I dont really want to use plain cross hach plate.
The requirements are:
Obviously take the weight of the car
Easy to hook onto for the tie down straps
Drains water easiely
Light weight
Easy to clamp down, so I guess holes of some sort.
I have been in contact this company:
http://www.midgrid.co.uk/
They have quoted me about 140 all in for 2 X tracks, wide enough for my wheels and long enough for the car. THis is with the cross hatch stuff shown
on the front page.
Anyone got any other thoughts or suppliers that can supply light weight but strong metal plaks or decking?
Cheers
Try this http://www.metal-mesh.co.uk/ most metal suppliers should have some.
Plenty of companies will fold and punch to your drawings. There used to be a couple of places on Ebay selling punched steel for not much money.

There may be something suitable from here.

Hmmm... that midgrid material looks great for an inspection pit cover material. My old wooden planks are getting very crumbly and mouldy (nice mix of black dusty type mould and a white hairy one).

I went for the midgrid slatted plank in the end. 3000 X 250 X 40 cost 146 inc vat and delivery. Thats for 2 and galvanised. I think thats a good price and deal. Apparently it can span 750mm and still support my car. Ill have suppprts about every 500mm. They weigh 17kg each.
