Forecourt Fuel Pump clicking when refuelling
smitht82 - 25/6/13 at 03:58 PM

Hi all,

when using the Forecourt Fuel Pump i get constant clicking when refuelling and it takes ages to fill up. I even mamange to over fill becuase of this. I can't be the only person with this problem so wanted to ask others how they solve this?

I've tried different angles and and different depths but have had no luck

Thanks,
Tim

I pull the nozzle back so that air can exit.

Mine does the same. I find best results are had by not holding the nozzle in very far and just filling at half the speed i would with a tin top.

If your avatar is your car an the filler is on top you shoyuld not have much of an issue, its the ones mounted on the back with a sharp turn in the filler hose that cause a bigger problem
Is yours a fairly straight tube in?
But as said, not plunging all the way in helps

Try a different petrol station as well, I've occasionally had trouble related to specific pumps rather than related to the car.

Does your tank have a breather/anti glug?

I have a 6mm breather and a 12mm anti glug back to the filler neck to prevent this. Well I hope so, I haven't been to a petrol station yet!

I found Tesco pumps to be terrible for this, but other places never seemed to be an issue. As others have said, going slower with it makes life easier too.
