How to get fuel out of a Renault Laguna ?
steve m - 25/1/14 at 12:44 PM

Hi all

Ive just been given a manky M reg Renault Laguna as a Big MOT failure
Apart from a newish battery, and a full tank of petrol, its a worthless piece of junk

But how do I get the fuel out, but would still like it to drive a bit so I can move it ?

I was thinking of drilling a hole in the plastic tank and siphoning it out ??

any better ideas

Steve

Hose pipe and a mint.

Take hose off under bonnet, aim at a can switch ignition on

Slice the hose some where accessible, (clean it first), maybe under the front of the car so you can pull the hose free, making it easier to direct to a can or other cars filler. Supply 12v to the pump (probably under the rear seats) and switch it off when the can is full.

Locate the fuel pump access point if it has one remove the fuel outlet from the pump, connect a hose into can then locate the fuel pump relay, bridge the pump feed connections ,The fuel will pump out.If you can't find the relay it is possible to connect a feed and earth directly to the pump.

In the end I just drilled a 25mm hole into the tank, and syphoned most of it out
so far 6 gallons, and still shows nearly half full
but ive run out of petrol containers
