Where did Saturn go??
Gear Monkey - 21/4/14 at 06:45 PM

Hello,

After a lengthy lay off I've decided to resurrect the project. I'd been basing my mx5 based roadster loosely on the saturn plans with my own rear end (diff housing) and e few other tweaks. I've been looking around but it looks like the Saturn has vanished? I'm about to start welding as all metal has been cut and angled ready to roll but thinking with no more Saturn should I change my design to cater for another manufacturers panels, wishbones, etc to fit??

Thanks in advance for your help

Paul

Saturn based their modified chassis on the Haynes 'standard' chassis, so sticking with what you have should give you a fair chance of getting the additional parts you need. For example, Gillham online sell a standard Haynes bodywork pack that will fit fine. Phil at Talon motorsport also has a fair bit of kit for sale that would also work.

It's not different to the haynes chassis apart from the obvious places

Equinox panels will fit

Gilhams gone part time, so expect a very long wait for panels

The Saturn MX5 design was passed to Gillham online when Saturn shut up shop (via NTS who didn't last very long...).
I spoke to Dan at Gillham last week about bodywork and MX5 wishbones.
He said he's had lots of orders for bodywork recently so expect a bit of a wait (3 or 4 weeks for a nosecone and bonnet).
He doesn't currently have MX5 wishbones listed on his site but is planning to add them soon (possibly with a revised design), and said he'd be happy to make some up for me.
