Ceramic Coating - Yorkshire
ash_hammond - 11/8/15 at 12:46 PM

Due to the heat the turbo manifold is going to generate I'm thinking about getting it ceramic coated due to the closeness of some other pipe work.

1, Am I wasting my time and money?
2, Are there any good places in Sheffield that will do this... ideally COD.

Cheers
Ash

Not wasting your time, it works. Won't be perfect but it helps.

You could send it to camcoat, or just buy the "DIY" coating products they have:

www.camcoat.com

NTDWM but they advertise on one of my car related forums.

Zircotec not sheffield or cheap but surprisingly effective

I've used Camcoat for my manifold and silencer, done a really nice job.

Different process to Zircotec as far as I know, pretty sure Zircotec is better at reducing the heat, but is circa twice the cost of Camcoat!
I had a quote of Zircotec for a manifold on a 2ltr 16v Pug XU eng and it was knocking on the door of £300.
My manifold and silencer on kit car were just over £200 at Camcoat.

I agree, emailed Zircotec... was a little shocked at the price.

Cancoat could be the way forward, if heat become an issue.

There is an important thing to remember with any of these products (my exhaust headers are Zircoteced)....

The heat that is normally radiated from the item which has been ceramic coat (Zircotec), camcoated or wrapped moves somewhere else. If you have one area which is not coated/wrapped you may well end up with a heat related failure and if you maintain the coating/wrapping to the end of the exhaust system you end up with very hot exhaust gases.

Just something to consider.

Love the change in exhaust note I got when I wrapped the entire system on my tin-top. So much deeper and smoother

My manifold is not coated and I've never melted anything.

The downpipe is wrapped with exhaust wrap from the turbo to where it exits the side panel which stops it melting stuff, other than that it's fine.
