Kit Car Unfinished Project Lotus 7 Style

Tempting and close! Don't recognise the chassis though?

Looks home made could be an interesting project .

It's not exactly as a Caterham (the lower trailing arms and Panhard Rod instead of A-frame axle location are the giveaway), but as the advert wording suggests, it's very closely based on the Lotus/early Caterham Seven S3 design... in fact it would take someone more expert than me to say for sure that it's not a straight replica of an early Lotus/Caterham S3, with rear suspension mods.

The front suspension design, with Triumph uprights, forged upper links and ARB doubling as a wishbone link, and the lack of framing to the tunnel are both 'early' Seven S3 features that Caterham has developed out of current cars.

As far as can be told from the photos, it looks like a nice job and could be turned into a very close replica of an S3 Lotus/Caterham Seven.

I'll go with SAMs summary
I have diagrams of early Lotus chassis and it's a close replica at the front and the use of small diameter tube instead of the normal home build square stuff points to a considered build
I like it

Design looks rather Caterham(y) at the rear, but clearly nothing to do with a mainstream manufacturer.

Structure and triangulation looks (visually) pretty good, in my hopeless opinion, with some visual concerns over some of the welding, ditto about my opinion.

Good project....

Third to last photo raised my eyebrows re welding of the chassis, this made me look closer at others, I would be giving it a once over in person before committing.

I'd say homemade myself, but go and look closely before making an offer.

A phonecall might help to uncover more info too.

Its a bit chicken poo welding in places. £1400 with a day to go and a bit to do to complete. I wonder if it is an older chassis that has been modified at some stage?

cat or lotus chassis had been brazed

this chassis had been welded..so definately not an original or partial lotus / cat chassis.

the welds are soo poor in most places that i would say: scrap it

if the geometry is as good as the welds, smash it first, than scrap it....that chassis is not safe for road-use!!!
