So given the new lockdown easing dates, is it too early to assume no Stoneleigh this year? I'm guessing exhibitors would have already started
making arrangements by now if they were going for it?
I did also assume that it stays near the May bank holiday but I guess it could move to another weekend?
I'd be surprised if it went ahead to be honest
Like everyone else I'm hoping Boris's plan works out on schedule, but it only takes one hiccup and we go back a stage
I've read that they expect the 'R' number to go up slightly when the kids go back to school and then there's the fact that
there's still quite a few folks who don't want the vaccine in the first place..
My personal view is that nothing spectacular will happen till later this summer, we have already lost the L2B and I expect the Goodwood members
meeting will also be postponed or cancelled again

Getting our lives back to some form of normality has NOTHING to do do with Boris
It has to do with the WHOLE country obeying the rules, staying in, not partying in secluded warehouses, or dodgy places, and none of this has
happened yet
Im sorry to upset some, but the only way this pandemic will end, is not fines, but taking away their benifits FOR life from the unemployed
And any one employed caught breaking the rules SACKED or have their tax's raised to 90%
Boris, and i personly think he is a missing tin from a 6 pac, (ie a f ing loon) no matter what he does, will upset some clown
open too soon, a lot die, open to late some die, and firms will go under
I actually feel for Boris, as what ever he does will be wrong
And my prediction, is Lockdow3 will happen in July 2021 until March 2022
this current shyte we are in, is going to last years,
"hey, I've got a great idea. Let's make the biggest kit car show of the year too early in the year every year"
"that's a great idea!!"

The way this pandemic will likely end will be through immunity (infection & vaccine) to reduce deaths and then accepting SARS-COV-2 as endemic.
I doubt it will ever go, due to the presence within animals and incomplete vaccine coverage worldwide. I expect the vaccine will be rolled into (or
replace) the flu vaccine yearly. Eventually, it will have to just become socially acceptable to live with and as a society we have to accept an
amount of deaths each year. Hopefully, it'll find some sort of equilibrium in a mutation, infectious enough to survive, but not deadly enough to
kill too many, like the four other coronaviruses we currently live with.
Once the vaccine rollout is complete amongst the vulnerable, which *should* (so the latest trials show) cover 80-90% of the annual deaths, we have to
accept annual death rates of 10 to 20,000 which are typical death rates for respiratory viruses and deemed acceptable to not warrant non medical
interventions (lockdowns, masks, social distancing etc).

I agree. I don't always obey the rules 100%, but do always follow the spirit - for instance when we were allowed to visit other households on Christmas Day, I visited my parents (alone) on Christmas Eve instead, as my wife and I wanted to spend Christmas day watching our children unwrap their presents and cooking Christmas dinner. I would not have visited at all, but our household and theirs have been shielding, so there was pretty well zero chance of us passing anything to each other.
We have been shopping by home delivery or click and collect (although I have had to go to the local shop for milk and the like, as we can't get enough in the fridge to last us between orders). We have not been visiting or meeting up with anyone. I have been working from home, my wife's health means that she cannot work. Our three sons (17, 15 and 13) haven't been out of the house (except for going to and from school, while they were open to all), since last March, other than with me or the odd visit to the local shop (10 minutes round trip).
Meanwhile my wife's sister (who is retired) has been ranting about isolation (her partner has been living with her, although he still has his own house), not being able to spend the day shopping, not being able to have days out all over the place, not being able to go to the hairdresser's. She has been meeting up for walks and chats with a couple of friends each week, meeting with her son and future daughter-in-law almost each week (they are living with her family, some of whom are going out to work). She and her partner have been meeting up with his daughter (understandable as she is in the terminal stages of cancer), meeting up with his son's family from North Yorkshire, who in turn have been meeting up with his daughter-in-law's family from London and so on. We are so angry with the way they have been ignoring the rules - one photo from last month had 9 of them, from 4 different households, with no masks and with their arms around each other
Not a sniff of it going ahead, they need to be making plans by now for a big show like that.
They won't risk it due to the chances we could be under stricter restrictions again by May if the numbers start going up again.
Looking at the roadmap:
Step 3, no earlier than 17 May:
Outdoor performances such as outdoor cinemas, outdoor theatres and outdoor cinemas can reopen.. Indoors, the rule of 6 or 2 households will apply -
although we will keep under review whether it is safe to increase this.
Larger performances and sporting events in indoor venues with a capacity of 1,000 people or half-full (whichever is lower) will also be allowed, as
will those in outdoor venues with a capacity of 4000 people or half-full (whichever is lower).
In the largest outdoor seated venues where crowds can spread out, up to 10,000 people will be able to attend (or a quarter-full, whichever is
lower).
Up to 30 people will be able to attend weddings, receptions and wakes, as well as funerals. Other life events that will be permitted include bar
mitzvahs and christenings.
I'm assuming it'd be covered under one of these three and therefore I can't see it being legal to go ahead earlier than this.
Wasn't it rescheduled for August last year? August should be OK for this year?
One of the guys who works for me is in hospital right now fighting for his life with Covid having caught it last week. I don't think it's gone away quite yet that people would be just now planning car shows.

When all of the lockdowns have finished, and this country is opening up stuff, how many people will just treat like a summers day in 2019
and go and mix with everyone ??
As it wont be me, or Wife, and apart from work neither my Daughter and eldest Grandson, we do not have plans for anything like holidays, beach days,
and i dont think Resturaunts Pubs etc either,
I think that all large gatherings like car shows, music events and the like will all be off this year, it just is not worth the risk
Also, any one considering flying, in a cigar tube with recyled air, breathing in everything from your fellow passengers and crew, must need there head
seeing to,

Sod personal choice! The people who fought in the first and second war by and large had no choice but to fight and that was for the good of the country. Vaccines are for the common good so there should be no choice, vaccine or sanctions full stop.

Your not confident in the vaccine as a way forward then ?
I believe the vaccine to be safe, and will probably be a bit of a plaster for a cut, but no one is stupid enough to guarantee 100% immunity
I just dont feel confident that any of this stuff is going away soon,
Having been in aviation from 1978-2016, i can guarantee the air quality on aircraft is SHYTE, filters or not, it has to be the one place on earth that
can spread a contagious disease the most, and wearing masks' is like using a condom with pinpricks in it
But please believe me, i am bored out of my head, i cant wait to even go out, even in the garden when the weather picks up a bit, and i f ing HATE
gardening !!
I even WANT to go back to some form of work, but only when safe
If i clean my car any more, it will be back to primer,
Did i mention how bored i am ???????????????????????????????????????

It is incredible how many people are actually believing the endless BS conspiracy theorys on the Internet posted by any halfwit who can type over the advice of medical professionals. This really is the age of conspiracies of the ignorant.

The one that is interesting me at the moment (and I don't know whether it's garbage or not) is China's infection rate. Apparently they've only had a few thousand deaths related to the virus, but there's been 150,000 (or more?) fewer people claiming a state benefit. Or the large deliveries of urns to funeral homes.
And just to enhance the whole 'conspiracy theory', here's a Daily Fail article about it;
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-9282677/IAN-BIRRELL-Row-erupts-cover-Chinas-Covid-death-toll.html
I very much doubt this will go ahead. There would be no indoor area's that could be accessed by public or exhibitors based on Monday nights lock down easing 'roadmap' and that's based on best case, significant revenue comes from the indoor exhibitions and the extra cost of sanitising and controlling facilities such as toilets and refreshments would likely be cost prohibitive. There may be a replacement later in the year but that would be too far away to plan against, if people go abroad for summer holidays then we'll all be back in lockdown come the end of August.
