As the title says, any ideas for some thick paint for tired axle stands?
Hi,
I don't think you can go far wrong with just using Deluxe Weathershield. That's what I used on my Locust chassis along with an etch primer
and it has held up well. Obviously surface prep will be key to get good adhesion so ideally sandblast or use some sort of scouring tool to remove any
rust and then degrease thoroughly. Good primer is essential and etch is probably best. Then get a good key between primer and top coat.
HTH.
Is this for real!
Axle stand paint and Dulux Weatherseal?
Or have I visited Pistonheads by mistake…
Obviously you use hammerite .......
(Waits for the flames & posts " it's not as good as 20 years ago"
I'm joking, when mine chips of I look at it disappointedly and move on.

That's not rust, it's patina
Some of the questions asked on forums leave me dumbstruck. Lost for words.
So, next question....What is the RAL number for the ideal colour?
Joking aside, when people stop asking questions on forums then the forums tend to die.
It’s the sign of a good community when people feel comfortable enough to ask pretty much anything about anything so I’m all for it. Obviously try to
select the appropriate forum section to post in but apart from that we should encourage forum activity. I know I’ve asked all sorts of things not just
about Locosts over the years and got some great advice.
To answer your question, I’d suggest RAL 1003 (Signal Yellow) for axle stands.
