The more I hang around here, the more it strikes me that although the site is called 'locostbuilders', it's probably questionable that
many people are building a true 'book' locost. Nothing wrong with that - not a thing. But I would be curious as to how it all breaks
down.
So have a go at the poll and let's see where we're all at.
A Westfieldish +4.
McSorley +442
A GTS very slowly...actually its more a small collection of bits ATM.
David
A plus 4 Locost, A porsche 924, and a Vauxhall Zafira.
All at the same time.
BTW should I vote for "book" Locost as it's a +4 and therefore not quite as uncle Ron intended?
Cheers
Chris
Definately by the book
might even finish it one day
Dan.
1" taller sides and bike engine this time.
Built 2 by the book. I believe you're hard pushed to get a better proportioned car than this.
Marcus
Finished an Avon, but modifying it this winter...
nothing, nada
Suppose trying to fix an mr2 with a ground fault but it doesnt count.
edd
GTS De Dion. Focus-Zetec engine powered.
Of course, mine is right hand drive for the U.S.

This thing 'ere...
MNR VORTX R/T FIREBLADE ON THE ROAD

Building a Luigi Viento (V8).
(Cos I am Bat Fastard, and cant get in a book Locost
Also building up a large Credit Card bill.
First 4 kit cars were Land Rovers... Big Boys Meccano. (different Mailing list!)
Definitely a book Locost......
All stainless steel, 4" wider, changed the side chassis bracing,
changed tranny tunnel to match sides (forms part of the chassis),
IRS, engine mounted further back laying over at 45 deg (Lotus)........
Errr.......... Is it a book Locost ??
Yup, definitely building a book Locost
Paul G
At this point in time I'm rebuilding an Omega engine (head gasket starting to leak and cam covers P*SS*NG out oil due to middle age spread) and contemplating getting on with luego Viento jekyl & hyde (it will start as 2.0i pinto, but my boss is the starter at Brayfield stock car track and knows who might be willing to donate an F1 V8 stock car lump a bit later for some beer tokens)
volvo powered book chassis . (sort of )
Book as far as the 'seat' bulkhead then my own IRS.
Well it's a challenge
Oh! and I agree, not enough scratch builders. Yes it can take longer but so far it's been a lot more 'Locost'
Mick
Tiger cat E1 for my sins
NICO Xen

NICO is because my surname is Nicholson
Xen was something that popped into my head one morning at 3am after learning a little bit more about IRS!!!
I voted 'Book Locost (minus the mistakes)' because car engine and live axle were big mistakes (P.S. please don't start the
IRS/De dion etc. thread, it was a joke)
Building an Bike engined Locost racer/hillclimber
Adam
Made an Indy RS7
BTTT
Come on guys, 1000 plus views and only 139 cars being built???
And of those apparently only 47 are stratch builds?
Cheers

Building book Locost, with live axle(English, Escort size). Toyota 4AGE engine, 4 speed box.
I have been going very slowly after starting to collect tools etc, to do the build and build a garage to do it in (ooh err), I then moved to the
Western Isles(top left of Scotland)changing jobs and house three times.
Now things are starting to move forward again
Oooh...
Had to tick book locost as there's no section for a nasty devient scratch-build like mine.
Surprised at the proportion of 'kit' builders. What would uncle Ron say
Liam
i havent ticked yet either, no custom scratch section. i'll tick book i think.
Book locost SVA'd but not finished (are they ever)
Lew
Rebuilding a Dutton Melos
Building a Stuart Taylor IRS 7 with Vauxhall XE engine on throttle bodies etc.
Finishing reprep on my Single seat, grasstrack type 9 special (also with Vauxhall engine on throttle bodies)
Contemplating/designing new chassis to build this winter for next year's grasser.
A flowbench!
Contemplating whether to stick with vauxhall engines for next years racer or switch to peugeot MI16 power.....lighter and bigger valves but it
won't fit my expensive Vauxhall gearbox.........
I need 2 votes, its a middy and an ST. I'll go with middy as Ian had little input into the resulting car!!
John
Book ish Locost. Live axle, 2L Pinto etc. Was planning on putting a 3SGE in it once through the SVA, but ..........
Just about to start book chassis (maybe IRS) with ex race 1600CVH. Can't wait!
I agree with what marcus said, Mr. Champion did a good job with the proportions of the car.
Andy.
I thought it would be quicker buying a finished car just wanted to get on the road maybe do the odd track day ............ think it would have been
quicker to build my own MK indy ........ 2 years still not sorted and very very p*ssed off....... the one time i did drive it at elvington i loved
every minute......... i would like to have ago at building one sometime soon
woody
McSorley +4, Have'nt struck a lick on it in a year and getting really discouraged.
Rebuilding a Tiger b6 ex raceing car.
