It has gone very quiet on the T/B conversion front. How are people going? Any body got one running and mapped yet? Trying to get mine done for llandow on april 9th.

Still waiting for-

1, Fuel tank (having swirl pot fitted).
2, Inlet manifold (being welded this week)
3, Omex (must go to RAW tomorrow)
4, Fuel Pump (ebay!)

So looking good. Will then just have to put it on the rollers and watch it go BANG!

Ben.

Sorry can't be much help on that as I only know him as Bob! I will find out the company name and post later in week. Ive stopped adding up the costs. It is a job I don't have the skills to do so will just have to live with the cost. Will let you know when I collect it. The guy doing it is based in hereford and does all sorts of alluminium fabrication. His own car is a radical style of car but with a full ally body. I will post some pics of my conversion when I get it all back.

Have now got details for you.

You need to speak to Bob at Concept Racing 01432 850685 or mobile 07793 586759.

Hi Ben,

I haven't moved far on the TB front.

I had lots of trouble with the MS. It's because I was trying to do something no-one else had done and get it to work with the standard Toyota ignition system.

Then a careless moment with the oscilloscope probe damaged the MS. I had not realised the band around the tip was earthed !

I spent a while fault finding it and repairing.

By this time I had OD'd on electronics and have since left it untouched.

As Homer would say "My brain hurts !"

I may restart and finally admit defeat by fitting an EDIS setup, but it would dissappoint me not to get the Toyota system running.

Heres my attempt, so far.....

They are GSXR 600 Throttle Bodies, the manifold is the standard DCOE manifold from raceline and I had an adaptor plate made up so the throttle bodies seal to the manifold using 'O' rings.

I am going to be using a Jenvey fuel rail (TBR22), and the injectors are from a Rover T Series.

I just hope it'll work

Work is manic at the moment, so work on the car is suffering.

Engine is in and full of oil. Just need to get everything else installed (Exhaust, ECU wiring, cooling system, inlet, fuel system)

Ironically, the only thing I need to buy now is a fuel tank

Steve
Your list looks similar to mine. I decided this morning that I needed a dead line as I want to know that the system is reliable before the lemans trip. So I have booked a day at Mech Repairs in cheltenham for a rolling road set up on April 5th. If all goes well we will be at Llandow on April 9th. No excuses now!
Ben.

Ditto - Last year I only got the car on the road about 2 weeks before I was due to leave. Aiming to make Stoneleigh in it this year. Biggest stumbling block is most likely to be the fuel tank! Need to get off my @rse and measure up the back of my fury.

Northy - 13/3/05 at 02:19 PM

I've just sent off a cheque for some GSXR 1000 bodies!

Northy - 20/3/05 at 11:42 AM

Got them, now what the hell do I do with them?

stevebubs - 20/3/05 at 09:15 PM

Finished 'em!!! All mounted up nicely on manifold (although not a nicely as the ones above) with fuel rail attached, too. Just need to finish the loom and I can give it them a try!

Steve
I'm now at about the same stage as you. Just hope they work! All I need now is to get 4 blanking plugs made for the injector holes (using injectors in head).
Three fuel pumps later I have found one that fits and works! Hope to do 1st start up at the beginning of next week. Then rolling road here we come.

Ben.

I've got a set of GSXR1000 throttle bodies and they have two sets of butterflies in them! Whats that all about then!?

Ben Smith - 20/3/05 at 10:52 PM

My 600's had two sets. I have taken the second set out and had some ally blanking plugs turned to block holes left. Don't know exactly how these work or if they could be made to work on car.

Ben.

The second set are controlled by the ECU via a stepped motor to help with low speed running.

Unless you want this functionality (don't know of a reasonably priced ECU that will support it) they can be safely removed.

Doubt I'll have much chance to work on the car before next weekend now

I'd be further along but managed to find a fault in my loom that's taken all weekend to figure out . Fixed now!
