one job ; How many times?
Jumpy Guy - 4/4/05 at 11:43 AM

Having just re-done my radiator brackets for the third time, was thinking-

How many times have you all done/redone/still to do things?

i'd have finished if i could leave things well alone after doing them once!

am i alone, or does everyone do a job, re-appraise, redo??

PMSL @ Hellfire,

I made an exhaust bracket 4 times on saturday,

Measure,
Measure,
Cut,
Weld,
Grind off pigeon s**t,
weld,
Grind off pigeon s**t,
weld,
Grind off pigeon s**t,
weld,
Grind off pigeon s**t,
weld,
finished .

Keep the pigeons out. As the saying goes, the man who never made a mistake never made anything.

Your not far off Pete,

I was welding outside and trying to do it in between the gusts of wind! Had i been in a building i would have been far better off even if the door was open!

i suppose i dont mean mistakes, but seeing better ways to do things once you've done it once...

engineering hindsight!

I always try to Design/make parts that are easy to remove and put back on again - if any of you have had the experience of owning someone elses handywork i bet you can recall plenty of times where you shook your head in disbelief when you removed a part and tried to re-fit it. I bet you have all said

'What a bloody stupid way to have done that!'

'Why didn't they/he/she do this'

'If i had done it i would have done it like this/that'

Its all very easy to say when you didnt do it!

it really annoys me when things are done like that so i always think about the practicalities of removal and refitting when designing something.

It took me 4 attempts to mount my rad as well

I got really narked with it and wouldn't leave it alone I've done it now and it seems OK so I've fitted the nosecone to stop myself looking at it all the time.

I keep telling my wife that it will all stand me in good stead when I build the next one (she's not amused!)

Cheers

Nick
