hi all.
anyone know which shops are selling big jacks cheap at the minute? im sick of using bricks and blocks of wood to get cars up high.
cheers
Dare I say Halfords.
Jack and axle stands for about 2 bob just now.
Fore height you need a long chassis high lift jack and a couple of stands but it depends what weight of cars you are working on --- When i had a
Rover 800 I got a a proper garage quality 3 ton heavy duty job from Halfords on special -- very similar jacks sold by Machine Mart and Partco as it
was really beyond safe lifting with a hobby type jack even though it was rated at 2 tons.
But if you are only lifting cars of the Focus/Rover 400 size a hobby long chassis jack should be OK.
Costco are doing SIP 3t rapid lift ones for £45 if you have or know anyone with a membership card.
Have a look here...
Jack
Sorry but couldn't get the actual picture into the reply.
i got 1 from autopaint for £59 it will lift my car 2feet off the floor

Sealey do good jacks.
I have also heard of people buying a high lift pallet truck. You can slide them in from the side and lift on you flat floor. just need to make sure
you get the centre point OK. Not cheap new but may be available 2nd hand. Material handling specialists do them. They are a good alternative to a high
lift system. Just need some space to get in from the side and work the handle (double garage etc).
Brought a Sealey Hilift jack a few years ago . lasted about 2 years before it started to leak badly. It had never been used to lift excessive weight but had been used constantly . Was going to cost more to repair than to replace . Am now using a Bradbury jack I bought about 1975 and still going strong . May be worth checking out second hand garage equipment suppliers? Bradbury and Epco a good british makes the others are normally far eastern or Italian crap
u can get a 3 ton trolley jack from halfords for less then £60 that will lift a landrover about 2 foot off the ground but if you wanna lift it say 5 foot off the ground nothing beats a HI-lift Jack lol
