Competition. What should I call my car?
jonbeedle - 13/7/05 at 01:27 PM

I hate to call my car a Locost. Besides the fact that it hasn't been very low cost, I just don't like the name.
I'd like to register it as a "************"
Your suggestions please!
I like David Jenkins' name for his car, something along those lines perhaps, or Hellfire...or has that been done?
It's not going to be a super fast racing type car (it only has a 1300 xflow) I'm trying to create a sporty fifties type car with a vintage vibe....man! So the name should reflect this.
By the way calling it "A Pile Of Crap" or "Frank" are not options!

The winning entry wins a copy of my CD "Total Self Indulgence" Now there's a good reason not to take part!!!
Cheers
Jon

Welllllll

your John Beedle right -- so that gives JB

andf it's a 7

so how about JB007 .... shaken not stirred

pbura - 13/7/05 at 05:02 PM

Seeing as it doesn't have quite the oomph of the Hellfire car, how about "Stovefire" or "Grillfire"?

Seriously, how about "JB7"?

Edit: Oops, thought I'd read the whole thread.

stratocaster 7

zilspeed - 13/7/05 at 06:34 PM

my method - think up a fictitious brand. Then use your initials followed by the year.
This method has always worked for the racing car manufacturers - every Van Diemen ever built is an RF** - so yours could be an............

Beedlesport JB05

That type of thing.

I would be tempted to go along those sort of lines.

theconrodkid - 13/7/05 at 06:46 PM

i agree with the "jb007" thread, tried to register mine as a "leituce 7"she gave me a funny look and said "try again"

jonbeedle - 13/7/05 at 07:04 PM

I'm impressed. Lots of good ideas.
I think I'd like to call it a name rather than a number, like Spitfire, Mustang or Hurricane or............. Daewoo Matiz.
Any more out there?
Cheers
Jon

DaveFJ - 13/7/05 at 07:43 PM

Triton - 14/7/05 at 06:22 AM

Locost because that's what it is even if it's cost a fortune to build. If you give it some strange name then when you come to try and sell it you will have more of a job.......Call it a Locost and people will know what it is.

Surrey Dave - 14/7/05 at 07:16 AM

I can't say whether it'll win the name competition but it certainly wins the prize for "Most Gratuitous use of a Pun in a serious Locost thread"

Good work.

As for a name for the car, how about:

The Strummer

Or perhaps not...

That would be brilliant except there's no 'h' in Jon, although my full name is Jonathan then it would be a completely different anagram!
Nice try though, it has a nice ring to it.!
Cheers
Jon ( with no 'h' )

jonbeedle - 22/7/05 at 06:49 AM

There must be some more ideas out there.

DaveFJ - 22/7/05 at 08:08 AM

Hmmm anagrams.....

not really a good car name but I thought you might like it anyway:

Lend Thee A Banjo!

If you don't strive to use all the letters some intersting words come out (and some very rude phrases!)

possibles:

Althea
Henbane
Nobel (think that one's taken)
Belated
Notable
Lebanon (perhaps not)
Holden (think that one's taken too)
Banjo
Bloated
Honda (errr)
Aloha
Albedo
Doable
Enable
Dental
Jade Lento

Cheers
