people must think im strange.. the missus has gone away for a week and im driving round with a bike engine perched on the passenger seat of my car. (seatbelted in!)

what would a psychologist make of that?

anyone had any other potentially worrying thoughts about what they are doing?

I picked up a couple of sacks of sand at the local DIY centre, strapped them in the passenger seat of the indy which doesnt seem too strange until i started a conversation with the sand.

At least the sand didnt answer back

Depends what kind of engine it is. Some of them need a lot of attention.

Why, what was wrong with it, in a mood was it?

Sand was a bit coarse

As a fellow locostbuilder (for now anyway while the name exists) i would say you are a well balanced individual of very sound mind. I wish i could get my wife to go away for a week so i can get on with the build. Sounds expensive tho'!!!

How did you get the spare engine connected up? Proper mounts will be better than seatbelt but its a good flexible idea. Any pics?

I got strange looks off my wife yesterday when i brought a freshly shotblasted wheel to work. I managed to get it primed up tho so i was happy. When time comes to fit new cap heads to them they might return to work - im pleased i have my own office!!

he must've used a very bendy propshaft to get round the seats

Dillinger1977 - 26/7/05 at 10:36 AM

its a seperate motor driving a fan to supercharge the car engine

That's carrying an engine in the passenger compartment.

I was once a passenger in an engine compartment.

As a student, a bunch of us are out on the booze in a borrowed VW rear engined automatic bus. The throttle cable breaks, so up with the engine cover and I perch on the motor and hold the lever on the carb. Driver shouts accelerate, everyone else shouts accelerate, I open the throttle and we are off. Couple of dodgy moments when the Chinese telephone says accelerate , when driver actually wants decelerate, but we get home okay.

Next morning the driver has to explain to his father how he got the bus home, when the father now can't get it out the driveway..

Cheers

Fred WB
