Customer Service
Scratch Builder - 11/8/05 at 07:21 AM

Approximately two months ago I ordered and paid for merchandise (products) from ARA (ARA Racing). To date I have not received my goods. Many of my emails, which have always been polite, have not been even been answered. Those that have been answered, basically give lame excuses about their supplier (a very well known company!). Have I done my hard earned dosh? Does anybody know what is going on? ARA appears to have changed its' website..... a bad omen!? I have read with interest other posts in relation to customer service (lack of) from other (GTS) locost suppliers. Any comment or information appreciated. Aussies to win at Old Trafford
Regards

Did you purchase with your credit card?

If so simply go to the bank. Tell them that you have never recieved the goods and they will refund your card.

The "merchant" will then have to prove to "his bank" that you have had your goods by producing a signed delivery note. You have never taken delivery and have not signed a delivery not so he therefore will not be able to do that.

I have a merchant account with the bank so know what I'm talking about.

Paid using PAY PAL........ 1st time using it......... probably the last!!!

Benzine - 11/8/05 at 07:54 AM

You could keep emailing them a lot. I once emailed an american company for 9 months before I got my guitar case Got it in the end though by sending emails to all departments of the company, not just the sales/customer service. Someone must have read I've been waiting 9 months and thought that was a long time (I told them in my last email I could have made a baby in the time it's taken, maybe that worked)

I dont' think that the strategy will work. My reason for this belief, is that most of my emails were to the MD (whom I will not name................. at this stage) of that company. How much higher can you go?

Syd Bridge - 11/8/05 at 09:35 AM

I've just had a look at the website for ARA Racing. No street address, no phone number, not even a mobile!

Does anyone have a street address and a phone number for these people?

Trading Standards will then act.

Regards,
Syd.

It would appear that I have been done. I have had correspondance from the supplier in question and they have confirmed my suspicions. Anybody in the UK that can do anything to put HEAT on this mob particularly, the MD, (initials A. A) .............go for it!!!

Scratch,

What actually is their website? Either of them?

I can't seem to find it.

Cheers,
James

I'm sure my above post applies with a paypal payment. Get in touch with paypal.

Gav - 11/8/05 at 01:19 PM

paypals procedure is only vaild for 30 days from the date of for tangable goods.
They have however extended this to 90 days for one occasion when a lot of people complained all at once and i got about 90% of my cash back.

Mate ARA is bad news. The bloke is a t**t to put it mildly. I was speaking to him at stoneleigh because he bought an engine off me and never collected so i went to see him at stoneleigh. Came accross as being a ******. Complain to paypal they should be able to give u sme of your money back if not all.

From the Companies House on line database

ARA RACING LIMITED
2 BLACKSWAN COURT
PRIORY STREET
WARE
HERTFORDSHIRE SG12 0HY
Company No. 04952299

A nice recorded delivery County Court summons might ellicit a response?

You say you won't name the MD but would be worth it if only to make sure others don't get done to!

Rich.

JoelP - 11/8/05 at 09:47 PM

Anthony Anstead is the name. i'll see if i can find a mobile for him

i met him at stoneleigh i think it was, didnt strike me as either nice or nasty, i was not bothered either way as i was just collecting stuff for a mate.

Suspect putting a deposit on the DB2 kit may not be the best move , Think I would wait until kit was ready for collection before parting with any cash? Just my opinion of course .

Surely "Much Hadham" is the giveaway.
I wouldn't pay a penny until it was sitting in my driveway.

wilkingj - 8/9/05 at 06:53 PM

Much Hadham is a Legit village in Herts... Been there several times (for work).

If you paid Paypal with a Credit Card, still talk to your Credit card Co...

Hope you get sorted.. Keep it Nice and Professional... dont get nasty, and you will stand a better chance.

For non delivery, he hasnt fulfilled his part of the contract.
Try Small Claims Court summons.
or
Try a letter saying you will recover the money through the courts give him 28 days to pay, and then threaten to issue a winding up order and close his company.

I did this with a Company shown on BBC's Watchdog. I was one of the very few to get my (mum's) money back.
I got a solicitor mate to tell me what words to put in the letter. It worked a treat.
