Personal plates on a "Q" car

A question occured to me. If you have a car on a "Q" plate, is it legal to have a non age-related private plate?

e.g. I know you won't be able to use A1 RSE etc, but can you have Irish plates, or three letters, three numbers plates etc?

Once a Q, always a Q...

Dont think that you can hide a Q .I would love to know if there is a way round it ?

They were talking about personal Q plates but you would still have to have the Q somewhere.

Wonder how many words you could come up with using Q ??

Surely if you declare the car scrapped, get a donor car with a V5 etc, swap the 2 major components, ie engine+gearbox into your Q plated car. Then SVA it you can get an age related plate again...

Pointless, but surely its possible

Oh and theres a bit about personalised Q plates on the DVLA site. They have decided not to go ahead with it, as the administration costs would be too high, and there arent enough Q registered cars...or something along those lines.

PS Nope - personal plates not allowed, but DVLA were talking about allowing "cherished" Q number plates like the above
