what diff oil
JoelP - 25/3/06 at 05:39 PM

my diff used to drip, its now stopped. Thats definately a bad sign! Trackday monday, and ive only just thought about topping it up. Will 10-40 oil do the trick temporarily, or is that a bad idea?

There's less friction with engine oil so the diff turns easier and lets your engine unleash more raw power but the diff will not last as long. As a temporary measure it might be better than no oil but being thinner it may run out quicker.

what diff is it, mine (ford LSD) used EP (extreme pressure i think)80 or 90 oil.
dunno what putting normal oil in would do.
have fun on monday! where is it?

god dont let the bikers on here know your leaking oil, they'll have your hands cut off. . . .

a trip down halfords for you i think, its not worth buggering your diff over a bit of oil.

Joel

Let me know if you're stuck. I've got some left from my build and could bring it down to 'Boro.
