Classic-look Locost
Vixus - 26/3/06 at 10:07 PM

I think, if I ever did build a Locost, I'd like it to have a more classic sporty look. With wheel fairings(?) and all that. Any idea if anyone offers any of these parts pre-moulded? I know building a locost is all about creating your own unique look. As a designer of sorts I'd love to give it some old-fashioned styling.

Any ideas?

The wings I think your referring to are called clamshells, Lolocost do them and they crop up on ebay occasionally from other sources.

i.e Link to lolocost swept wings

You're not alone in wanting an old style, I'm going for an A series based build using a Morris Minor, might even include the old centre clock, big skinny wheels etc, I'm not that interested in going quick its more of a style/challenge thing for me.

There is a company who make replicas of the very old lotus 7 but can't remember who they are. They will be on the web and in the mags.

I suppose getting an original Lotus 7 would be cool in itself. Those are some beauties in the pic. Going off-topic, anyone had any experience with Furys? I'm wondering if those can be modified to look more 'classic'?

As for Caterham and Westfield, no thanks.
