Nice looking car David, I like the steam loco as well! If it's OK with you I might just blag your design of gearbox remote when the time comes for me to fit my transmission, as I have seen others but mostly they seem to be bolted onto the existign stub gearstick and not a 'proper' extension like yours.

G'day David,

Your progress is enviable (especially in my case). Good looking car, the rear view sets the target for what I want to achieve!!

Now for the questions; where did you source that dash panel? And is there enough clearance for your legs/knees along the lower edge?

You're too kind!

The dash panel came from a mail-order marine ply store! I designed the outline using a hardboard mock-up and stuck on paper instruments here and there until I was happy. The I cut out the ply and rounded over the edges using a router.

The instruments and lamps are fitted onto plastic sheet, which is then screwed to the back of the dash.

There's plenty of clearance for me under the dash, probably because I'm using very low seats - no runners - my backside ends up just an inch or so above the floor!

I have only one problem to sort now - currently the bottom edge of the dash is a half-inch radius, so I have to introduce some padding, or build it up to 3/4" somehow. Hopefully not a major issue.

regards,

David
