Are they not made of plywood ie Locust ?

mr_pr - 18/6/06 at 07:27 PM

really?

sack that then...

it probably is made of wood, ie a tj locust. That said, £2300 is quite cheap for a fairly fast car, especially if its properly registered. You could always rebody it next winter, onto a metal chassis.

I am sure they are made of plywood..................but then a morgan has a wooden chassis as well?

I dunno - talk about chinese whispers!!

Locust chassis aren't made of wood, and neither are morgans for that matter! Both vehicles have steel ladder chassis. A morgan has a hardwood frame on top of that for mounting the body, while a locust has the main body tub in ply or mdf skinned in ali. Nothing at all wrong with wood - fantastic stiffness to weight ratio.

the original composite?!

mr_pr - 18/6/06 at 08:41 PM

right!

So, they are actually more decent than i initially thought...

Would have to change the interior, seats etc....

If it's a TJ it probably will be made from plywood, but as pointed out, not much wrong with that. Early Marcos's were made from plywood too & were formidable racers. I'd rather have a well made ply chassis than a poorly made steel one!

neither have a tree wood chassis, the wood just supports the body panels. The only cars I can remember with a chassis made from vegetation are the original Marcos, and the flintstone car

Depends on how well its been made Lot of money to spend sight un-seen
