does anyone know much about these? Are they any good? I know there are a few racing in 750mc so they must be resonable. How do they match up to other locosts or are they just a std book locost?
AFAIK they arent keen to sell chassis/car kits to be used on the road rather specializing in the competition side of things (shame really). but from
what I've heard, fantastic quality chassis.
Cheers, Stu.
I know I'm biased but we paid the proper amount for pretty much everything we bought from Ivan and Matt so not THAT biased I can honestly say though that you'll not make or buy a better constructed 'Locost' chassis than a Procomp one (makes a standard Stuart Taylor one look most agricultural...as Ian would probably admit) BUT they are the most expensive and as Stu has said you are probably very unlikely to pursuade them to build you one for the road as building cars isn't the only source of income they have. DAMN good kit cars tho
Are the chassis made to book plans or have they been re-designed.
Well.... there are two types of Procomp LA (the LA obviously stands for Live Axle in case any of you were wondering) there is the LA Gold which I
believe came about when they got bored of messing about with old Westfield chassis to get them to handle on a track and decided it would be much
easier to build their own. Then there is the LA Locost which is built to the dimensions in 'the book' (which someone went the wrong way
with, ok legal problems with Westfield would have been a problem but to alter the wheelbase and track in the wrong directions is unforgivable). So, if
you're not going Locost racing - and you can pursuade them to do it (mmmmmm) - then a LA Gold chassis is the one to go for, no it's not by
the book btw it's a LOT better. The LA Locost is as near 'the book' as it needs to be but, as they would charge you the same price,
unless you're going racing I wouldn't bother.
Cheers
