Well, I'm road legal as of this afternoon, and have been blasting around the lanes of Sussex ever since.

F*cking FANTASTIC - though there are a few little things to sort still......

Thanks to everybody who has helped in the build, you know who you are.

So for those starting out it doesn't have to take forever - it's a year and two days since I started.

Cheers guys - first slight problem today - drove her into Brighton, notice it was feeling a bit 'sticky', wasn't rolling properly, turns out the front brakes were sticking on. So after much panicing thinking I'd seized the engine, and a chap to a very helpful guy at Rally Design, turns out I hadn't left any play in the brake pedal. 6 washers between the master cylinder and the bulkhead cured the problem and got me home.

Shows you how much I know about building cars.

Think I'll be nervous driving her for awhile, till I know nothings gonna fall off. Everytime I go around a corner I think the wheels are gonna come off or the steering shaft break!

Shit! Are there people out there that actually completes their cars!?

Keep going out for a little run now and then to build up confidence Jasper. I had a bottom balljoint strip on mine going round a local lane with a lot of bumps and I had to abandon it in a farmyard overnight. It was a while before I had the nerve to throw it round a corner. It still steered round the bend with one wheel hanging off so the design must be good. Also it pissed it down all night so I had to bale it out when I went back with the new joint.. Good luck mate hope all your problems are as easily solved.

Still ironing out the niggles, and nervous every time I drive it, listening for clunks.

Yesterday got an unrepairable puncture in a brand new tyre - gutted.

So, the silencer is a standard R1, easily available from breakers, mine was £70.

Because I've moved my engine back in the chassis I had to get it cut down a couple of inches.

I think it's fairly quiet, but until I get it tested I won't know. I reconned the standard bike can has to be fairly quiet, and certainly quieter than the ST one.

Maplin sell a noise meter in their online shop.

Relatively inexpensive as I recall - though it might have been on offer.

Had a bit of a moment today - the steering column started to stick a bit, sort of 'clunking'. Anyway, drove the rest of the way home, to discover the pin that holds the brake pedal clevis pin's R clip had become dislodged.

So I've been over every critical joint in the car to make sure nothing else 'terminal' is likely to happen.
