And I see people talking about double wishbone front, can anyone enlighten me??

nitram38 - 7/1/07 at 11:43 AM

Looks a bit rough to me and that means that the parts are too.
After a complete strip down, you may as well build your own.
It looks like most parts will need replacing!!!!!!

Ive bid on it already out of my excitement, I'd rather work on one thats not a million miles from finishing than start from scratch also this is cheaper.

If everyones opinions are the same i'll withdraw my bid

Cheers

My concerns would be if it looked rough it must have been thrown together quickly, how accurate is the chassis?

meany - 7/1/07 at 11:49 AM

only things i can spot are :

rear brakes not fitted...probably just not yet.

steering rack, is it shortened?...if not bumpsteer may be a problem.

all depends on how much it goes for.

Cheers.

Ive only put £500 in so far, I wont get excited and add more

Don't think it's worth any more than that

JoelP - 7/1/07 at 12:16 PM

i too wouldnt pay any more than that. If i bought it, id ditch the engine and go bike. But then there isnt much left really, a bare rolling chassis needing work, so beware! You could get that far in a few weeks of part time work. Really depends on how good the chassis is.

great minds think alike mark!

Im going to email him asking for weld pics, ill let you know when/if they arrive

JoelP - 7/1/07 at 12:26 PM

its not just the welding, but how accurate it all is.

YODI - 7/1/07 at 12:28 PM

I dont want to go bike to be honest.... I like the 2.0 pint and have many parts of my own for one as Ive had a fair fair few Mk1/Mk2 Escorts.

Heres what I sent:

Hi, I'm quite interested in your car however I'd like to see some close detailed pictures of the welding please. Could you email me the full resolution pictures to yodi@blueyonder.co.uk and any other pictures of the engine area and rear axle area but specificly the welds. Also who welded it, what was it built up from and any receipts for anything at all? Thanks and look forward to eharing from you. Yodi

Ask him to measure across the chassis diagonals. This may give a bit of an idea about the build accuracy on the whole if they are way apart or quite close. He seems to be missing both cross engine bay tubes Not Hard to put in yourself though I suppose.

HTH,
Andy
