A robinhood lightweight, registered as a 1969 Lotus 7. Surely not legal?
http://www.locostbuilders.co.uk/viewthread.php?tid=58402
not legal as different chassis ..... but if the chassis number was trasnferred on to the new chassis, who would tell? (ok, lets say the new chassis is a mk or other steel frames that looks more like the original).
Apart from the vehicle registration issue the seller is passing off a Robin Hood as a Lotus/Caterham
For some fun you could email the link to Cateringvan and wait to see how long before the ad is pulled by ebay.

Give the guy a break!
So there isnt any on else on this site who has got a "Kit Car" that is actually something else, I dont think so !
surely if it affects you or some one you know, why bother in reporting it
If some numpty goes along and spends 10k on a rh thinking it to be a real 1969 lotus 7, then they dont need help from anyone on here, what they need
is my number , and they could buy my 7 instead
its completely illegal, and judging by the recent sva failures of that chassis, its just been used to circumvent SVA...
A dangerous practice which could land the builder in jail...
good job i was pre sva then !
i think the point is steve, that the lightweight has issues when it comes to SVA, about a lack of strength. Im all for bending the rules, however its
a little snide selling a potentially dangerous car to an unsuspecting purchaser.
And to be honest, i would definately drive a wrongly registered kit myself, but i would not sell it to some poor sod. Look at what other non
sva'd lightweights have sold for recently, he's fleecing the highest bidder out of a grand already!

I don't see how he can refer to it as a rebuild, not the original engine, chassis, gearbox, brakes or suspension.
It should go through SVA, it's not surprising he is going abroard

your right Phil, it's not illegal to replace a damaged chassis, so long as it's a like for like replacement, it is illegal to replace a chassis with something different.
anyone who buy's that car, will have no chance of an insurance payout should they total it, that's if the insurance inspector knows what he's looking at.
Chris
it's not on, someone who's new to scene has a very good chance of being ripped off.
not one major part of that car is from the 1969 lotus,
it will have new wishbones, sierra running gear and as such should have undergone an sva as per the law.
....only about 10 miles from me, I might take a look this weekend

there is a big thread on rhocar site see here link
bidding has ended........
dunno if thru ebay seeing sense and ending it, or someone bought it private
Seller ended it, if ebay had pulled it then it would say invalid item number or similar. Probably a private sale.
