DOES ANYBODY KNOW.
Well, I'm still building, but I can't figure out where mine is going to be more than 1100 lbs. (500 kg.). I've added up the weight of
the frame and all the parts, figured in wiring, paint, roll bar, oil, etc., and still not much over 1000 lbs. The Zetec is a REALLY light motor
(which is why I chose it), especially when you take off the unneccessary bits (power steering pumps, etc.). I'm using a solid rear axle, by the
way.
Does that help?
Think of the General Belgrano
My Viento, with a V6 is close to 800kgs, but its got a complete interior and fancy corbeau recliners.
So i would think you may creep below 650kg if your lucky and keep comfort to the minimum.
Hi cars with the zetec in can be as low as 490 kg if built for racing but the average westfield with a zetec is more like 560kg for road use with trim
and wind screen. 550kg for road use would be a good target to aim for.
cheers matt
Zetec isn't that light as it has an iron block (it's around 115kg) rather lighter than a pinto (around 135kg) but no featherweight.
Zetec SE is really light (for a cec) at 80kg ish
