mcerd1 - 23/2/07 at 08:20 AM

Me too, structural steelwork design (for eletrical substations mainly)

JohnN - 23/2/07 at 08:22 AM

Everybody is an engineer, by common consensus.

Findlay234 - 23/2/07 at 08:22 AM

Final year of MEng Mechanical Engineering.

Also currently doing a module on IC engines which is really interesting.

fesycresy - 23/2/07 at 08:23 AM

Mechanical design originally, then realised the pay was shite

matt_claydon - 23/2/07 at 08:36 AM

Mechanical Engineer

macnab - 23/2/07 at 08:36 AM

I'm a planning engineer, does that count??

Though I did win an engineering design award (its a medal!) for an off shore drill bit I worked on.

balidey - 23/2/07 at 08:51 AM

Well it says so on my passport, so ME

Alez - 23/2/07 at 08:59 AM

stevetzoid - 23/2/07 at 09:04 AM

Do you mean quallified engineer's, ?

Regards Steve Evans.

I was an electro/mechanical project engineer (qualified electronic engineer), but moved into sales (stayed with the same company) for the money. Funnily enough I'm now a Field Sales "Engineer" so haven't managed to shake the title just yet.

An engineer should be formally qualified as such before using the title IMHO. Most European countries do not use the title lightly and hold there engineers in much higher esteem than the UK

arrybradbury - 23/2/07 at 09:18 AM

Second year of a MEng in Mechanical Engineering!

DarrenW - 23/2/07 at 09:27 AM

Me too. Time served toolmaker then specialised in Production engineering followed by Project Management. Now Project Manager in automotive industry.

Absolutely love engineering but not convinced it is the best move from a financial point of view. A few make a fortune but most get the market rate. Its a shame but most companies view engineering as a necessary evil and direct cost to the business. Whereas the good ole' sales people generate business (dont comment - tongue in cheek comment alert)

wheezy - 23/2/07 at 09:34 AM

Aircraft engineer, based in Northern Norway until end of march.

mad4x4 - 23/2/07 at 09:44 AM

BSc in Electronic Systems me - No work as a Offshore control systems Engineer

smart51 - 23/2/07 at 09:55 AM

perhaps we should have a poll

russbost - 23/2/07 at 09:57 AM

Guilty as charged.

macnab - 23/2/07 at 10:17 AM

rather a lot of engineers then...

martyn_16v - 23/2/07 at 10:18 AM

Technically no (only a BEng in Electrical), but you'll struggle to find anyone more experienced in my particular field in this country (actually you'll struggle to find anyone)

bigandy - 23/2/07 at 11:03 AM

Got a degree in Aero Engineering, worked at Airbus for a while on the A380 wings, now doing custom sensor module design (leadframe/plastic overmould and a bit of form tool and mould tool design, all on Solidworks)
