Hi, i'm new to this forum so you'll have to excuse my ignorance

I'm trying to find out as much as possible about building a locost, i've been considering it for a long time and i've got a lot of motivation at the moment

I've been looking around a lot, and it seems to me that the cars i really like the look of arent locosts, I like the Dax, MK indy and westfields but i havent seen any actual locosts that really tickle my fancy.

I was hoping you could post up some pictures for me of particularly "aesthetically pleasing" locosts as a bit of inspiration.

Also could you tell me which forum i should use for technical questions re:building the locost?

Thanks a lot

If you want to build a 'Locost' this is the forum for you, lots of help available on here.

Lots of options to build,

a) build from scratch, build you own chassis, make your own bodywork etc depends a lot on your skills and ability, use donor vehicle for running gear, engine etc

b) buy a built chassis and bodywork (which is what I did), make and source other parts as required from a donor vehicle and your local scarp yards.

The options are almost endless.

Also, how much do you want to spend.

See a few pictures of my build in my photo archive 'On the Road' folder.

Its a Luego chassis and bodywork (the original Luego), Cortina live back axle and front uprights, 1600 Ford X-flow engine & 4 speed type 2 gearbox. Cost just under £5000 to build and took 4.1/2 years to build.

Hope that helps, I'm sure there will be other people on here that will post other info.

Good luck

i like them, i'm glad i posted now!

i know certain things already, i want to use a 2.0 zetec engine on throttle bodies, a type9 or mt75 box and an english axle. I also know i want big wide arches on the back and extra leg room (i'm 6ft4). I went on the mcsorley website, which of the designs do you think i would be best following? I assume that i can build any of the chassis and simply adjust the engine mounting rails to accommodate the engine?

I have the skills to do it all, i just really want to know what is available so i dont end up starting on one design and realising that i slipped up at the beginning

Finally, adjusting the chassis is going to cause a nightmare with body panels, is there a website with the specifications of various panels so i can ensure they will fit? Thanks for the response
