Just for the people that are thinking of doing so, both manifolds fit no problems, sump and oil pick up of silver top bolts straight on even the cam cover fits. Only bit you have to make is bracket for idler roller for fanbelt, forgot to mention engine mount points are also the same

Nice one! Thats good knowledge to have, I've been looking for that answer for a while.

1 question though, are zetec blacktops the same as duratec engines then?

Also, what engine did you put in, where did you get it from? Sorry for being a bit nosey.

Thanks

took 1994 silver top out and fitted 1998 phase 3 black top. dont think duratec will fit on bell housing but could be wrong.

Zetec is cast iron block with belt driven cams and Duratec is all alloy block and chain driven cams

I seem to recall the Exhaust is on the opposite side between the two when put in RWD.

Passenger side for the Zetec and Drivers side for the Duratec.

No. Zetec is a CVH-based ford design. Duratec is a Mazda design.

Duratec bellhousing mount is different to zetec.

Duratec exhaust is on the opposite side to zetec.

Pinto, Duratec, Cossie - driver's side
Crossflow, CVH, Zetec - passenger side.
