Hi
New to the forum but would like an expert opinion of this.
Been offered a 1.3 cross flow locoust. Its in good cond, built from a 1975 engine, done 2000 from new.
It is in pieces at the moment as he was going to replace the wiring loom but ran out of time, he has bought a new one from Robinhood. Says its going
new wheels and brakes and ran fine till he took it apart.
Wants 1200 for it but will try and get him down on that.
Any help would be great.
Cheers
Welcome to the forum,
Is the car correctly registered or does it need SVA?
That may affect the amount of work you need to do.
Steve.
Sorry forgot to put that in. It is SVA and has an MOT till August. On a SORN at the mo.
Thanks for the quick reply stevec.
Also what sort of performance do you get out of it, I know its only a 1300cc. )-60 times etc
Cheers
First thing is whether it's a locust or a locost. Important difference as a locust is a ladder frame chassis with a wooden body.
If it's correctly registered for the road (V5 says locost or similar, certainly not Ford Escort)
Then the price sounds pretty good if it's all there and in good condition.
The quality of the welding especially on the wishbones is important as you are trusting your life to it so check carefully.
Try and get someone to have a look over it for you that has some knowledge of these cars, Where are you?
Steve
Thanks iank.
Just looked at his email and its a Locust, meaning a wooden body. going off it abit now as I wanted a metal frame.
Might have to change my mind and build one from scratch.
Bought Chris Gibbs book the other day, don't know if it was the right one to to buy but it uses the sierra engine which I wanted to use.
Are Chris's and Ron's car pretty much the same and is there a thread on the differences
Cheers
