I've been in a DAX and the footwell is extremly small. I barely can press one pedal at a time, let alone heel toe.

Is it because the chassis is narrow or because there is the propshaft from transfer case to the front diff ?

Reason is i am planning my locost chassis and might go with an MT75 AWD gearbox (or similar) but i cannot efford having such a small footwell for my size12 shoe.

Its either going for an extreme wide chassis or drop the AWD option.

I assume the DAX was a four wheel drive version?

It may well be that the extra transmission bits & pieces mean the footwell is smaller than normal.

I have a Stuart Taylor 2WD locost and size 12 feet - I managed to engineer my pedals so that I can get my feet in quite easily.

The only minor issue is that I had to shop around for some small, narrow, lightweight shoes to get my feet in and to get the best possible feel with the pedals. The pedals are extremely light to use and it's very easy to over do it!

Lots of kits have small footwells... I can heel + toe in my Locost (STM pedal box) but only if I wear converse basketball shoes... Then again, I do have size 14 feet....
In a Fury I drove across Ireland I had to drive without shoes

I have similar problems and I've got dainty size 10s!! The best advice I can give is choose your driving shoes carefully - I went for a pair of running shoes which are very close fitting with no 'sticky out bits' that will catch on pedal edges, steering column brackets etc.
You might also get some advantage by reducing the pedal sizes slightly.

would it be advisable to widening the chassis ?

The Luego Viento is a wider/longer chassis designed specifically to take V8 engines. This may provide a little more footwell space.

I get on Ok with my size 12 feet in my MK Indy, but footwear does play a big part. I find converse All Stars work well

Are there any sketches of the Viento ?

I am planning for either F20C including the S2000 gearbox, or SR20DET with FS5R30A AWD (GTR).

I already have an Sr20det engine with around 350bhp and a standard F20C engine at hand.

I think the DAX is designed to take a Rover V8?

The standard RV8 bellhousing is very wide (and tall), I'm building a +4inch wide chassis to take a RV8 but dont have any extra space in the foot well because the center tunnel is wider than the book chassis.

Never sat in a DAX but the ones I've looked at did seem to have wide center tunnels.

As above, if its the Rush Quadra it will be running the same Sierra 4x4 running gear (minus the engine) as Liam.

The front propshaft exits the RH rear of the gearbox and passes along next to it to the front diff so it means the loss of a couple of inches all along the left side of the drivesr footwell.

Liam's is tight for space but has custom made a pedal box with skinny pedals which makes it much better
