Snake
Desmo904 - 15/9/03 at 03:21 PM

Did anyone see the "Snake" at Donington last weekend?
I'm quite taken by the styling, & the missus likes the idea it's got a boot (I wonder why?)
According to the show program, they use the MK Indy Chassis. On further investigation I found out that they used to buy the MK Indy chassis, but now they produce their own version - copied from the MK.
Has anyone any experience with this manufacturer (SPD) , quality - wise, service etc.

It seemed to me that the project was rushed together to make Donington, and it all looked a bit unfinished to me.
Any feedback regarding your collective opinions would be most welcome.

if you're talking about spd's chassis' i must say i wasn't impressed. Several ideas are *very similar* to MK's, some are different but the state of the demo cars was bad. if i was a manufacturer i wouldn't want to be exhibiting a dirty, messy car like they were.

was the snake the 7 or the rs200 replica?

Ned.

It was the "7"

Viper - 15/9/03 at 05:01 PM

not the seven you are thinking about ned, that was there race car with the horrible front wisbones. the snake is the one with the rounded cobra like rear and sevenesque front, i thinlk it was red,

don't spd advertise there car as an mk chassis?

Might be best to keep your head down on this one - I hear there's litigation in the air.

Cheers

in septembers Which Kit (page 55) it states (talking about the snake) "beneath the hybrid styling lies MK's proven indy chassis"

knew i had read it somewhere,

the wishbones on the race car were not MK's, i think they were box section......

Any pictures?

The description sounds horrific!

Viper - 15/9/03 at 07:54 PM

i didn't take any pics, but as far as the body goes i say fair play at least they are trying to give us something a bit different, and the guy on the stand is trying to bring the cost of motorsport down to a level us mortals can afford.

I saw a piccy of a seven - think it was a dutch car - that had a very rounded rear end with frenched lights. It looked really good! didnt go to donington so i dont know if this is nice rounded, or crap rounded. tech terms btw

there seems to be some confusion as to with car was the snake

it does not use a mk indy chassis as stated in septempers mag there was a retraction in the next mag saying which kit used the wrong information

having visited the factory i can say they could not be more friendly or helpful

to see the snake look on there site
