what are you building?
stephen_gusterson - 18/9/03 at 09:51 PM

The locost concept is that its built from a pile of steel. At least thats what the book promotes.

Then there are those that get a little leap forward by buying a chassis.

And those that go off at a tangent. Silly people.

I just wonder what proportion of the site is doing what....

this counts for cars in progress and finished.

if I havnt included an option, just post it.

thekafer - 18/9/03 at 09:54 PM

Multiple polls for accuracy?

Alan B - 18/9/03 at 09:57 PM

chrisg - 18/9/03 at 10:04 PM

yea, how many ??????????

Stu16v - 18/9/03 at 10:53 PM

Book only used for inspiration rather than plans.....

Stu16v - 18/9/03 at 10:54 PM

....but that probably applies to everybody

kingr - 18/9/03 at 11:05 PM

And yet another, either this proves that a lot of people on here are scratch building or that scratch building attracts the sort of person who like answering polls!

Kingr

stephen_gusterson - 18/9/03 at 11:05 PM

i modded the poll 4 times.......kept thinking of stuff.

However, the front page index shows each time you created it even if you delete.

deleted posts get knocked off your count. my total is real. not thats anything to shout about.......

OK, I was the first to click the 'waitng to start' box.

Sort of like Waiting for Godot.

Street cred is on the line...

Sideways 2 Victory - 19/9/03 at 01:11 AM

Do I get rated 1st cheat?

Is it socially acceptable to pray on some other buggers financial misfortune and relieve him of a minty tig'd race chassis?

Damn right!

Dave

Me too...

highspeeddirt - 19/9/03 at 04:51 PM

I would say I'm assembling a Stuart Taylor kit rather then building something . To start with a pile of steel and a book would be way beyond my skill level.

Steve

mrmotorhead13 - 19/9/03 at 09:06 PM

I bought a CMC chassis for two reasons, first it's already homolgated for racing here in the States in SCCA SoloII and second because I'm a lazy bastard.

blueshift - 19/9/03 at 11:38 PM

Sideways; welcome to builderdom, feels like losing the stabiliser wheels doesn't it?
Like the completely mindless impartial website script has accepted you into the fraternity

kiwirex - 20/9/03 at 09:41 AM

Building from scratch is way beyond my current skill level too.
But that aint gonna stop me.

Run the poll again in 6 months and I'll be clicking on the 'purist' button, not the 'waiting to start' one.

Might build one of ron's buggies first for practice.

Try building a rowing boat, lots of welding but no moving parts. Except oars, but thats easy!

surely a good start?!

Dale - 30/9/03 at 11:42 PM

Building from scratch. Stretch locost Marlin sportster ripoff but with a much more rounded rear end and a 101 inch wheelbase. Buying steel this week and Booked a weeks time off work to weld this month.
Dale

ned - 1/10/03 at 10:27 AM

bought a tack welded book chassis with lolocost wishbones [shudder] though mod'ing to IRS amongst other things...
