Heat-shrink adhesive tubing
David Jenkins - 10/10/07 at 04:26 PM

I think that Maplin's is going downhill... I want to get some heat-shrink tubing with adhesive inside, 1" diameter (or metric equivalent), to solve a little 'challenge' on my bike carbs.

I know Maplins used to sell it, as I bought some there last year just one size smaller. Now they've only got up to 13mm dia, and that's mail-order only.

Anyone know of a sensibly-priced on-line source? Preferably one that doesn't charge the earth for P&P on small orders...

Try Ebay - there's someone on there selling heatshrink.

Can't remember who, but I bought some from him and got a decent price and quick delivery.

This place?

30mm is hopefully close enough for jazz, he doesn't seem to stock 25mm in glue lined.

p.s. Maplin has been going downhill for years IMO.

agreed. you to get loads of components but now they sell a lot of ready made gimmicky crap.

17 p for a resistor!?!?!?

When they didn't have anything I wanted the other day, in spite of being in the catalogue, I suggested they were turning into a computer accessory shop. The guy behind the counter agreed.

That'll do nicely!

All I need now is a working postal system...

David,

You could also try Vehicle Wiring Products for the heat shrink too.

VWP have a nasty minimum postage charge... also they only have up to 19mm...

I'll try that ebay bod.

UPDATE - now ordered!

I've found that when I've phoned VWP for only one or two small bits that they have charged me less than the minimum postage.
